"Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm." Mark 4:39

"Peace, be still."

It is a most beautiful scene. A huge black storm surrounds a little boat, and strong burly fishermen onboard are reduced to helpless ragdolls crying out to their Master. And then the still figure, lying peacefully in the cramped corner of that little boat, stands up.

Notice, oh the beauty of our Jesus, that He faces not His disciples; instead, He faces the storm. In the midst of terror and panic, in the midst of their desperation and helplessness, they inadvertently accused their Master. But in the midst of chaos and impudence, Jesus did not rebuke them. He rebuked the storm.

Many people call for peace to the soul, peace to the mind and peace to their loved ones; but we forget that Jesus called for peace to the storm.

What are the threats we have today? What causes our worrying and anxiousness? Let us put on His robes of Righteousness, let us take on His example, let us speak to our storms: "Peace, be still."
