The Name of Jesus

"Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth..." Philippians 2:9-10

The name of Jesus: savior and redeemer. When you whisper His name, you are calling for help, for saving, for a savior.

When we pray, we pray in Jesus' name because it is the person of Jesus that has brought us near to God. When we come before God in Christ, God sees us through the lens of Christ. He sees His only begotten Son. And so He sees us with unrestrained love. All righteousness is fulfilled in Jesus, and our Father loves us righteously because a debt that has been paid cannot be paid again. And thus, the gates of the Law has opened and the endless ocean of God's love rushes out like a tsunami and envelopes the believer. All this, by the name of Jesus.

Jesus also says to ask in His Name (John 14:13-14). Think of an only child, coming before his father who loves him so much. And the little boy, pure and so lovable, says, "Daddy, can I have some bread?". The father's heart lurches when he meets the beautiful eyes of his beloved child. How could he not give the child a bread? Even if it was the last piece on the table, the father would leave his own stomach empty if it means to see a satisfied smile on the face of his boy.

Yet, why is it that the narrative about God has been one of an abusive father? Someone who demands and punishes, takes away and hides things. Now, some of these things definitely does have some semblance of correction from a father, but absence of Love, one would definitely conclude such a father is abusive or better off without.

Jesus came to reveal that part of God. Nay, not just a part of God, but to reveal that God is Love.

"If an evil father on earth would not withhold good from his child, how much more would your heavenly Father give you good things?"

There has been a great revelation that has been swept aside in our generation. People are calling out for morality, for objective direction, for justice; but the greatest revelation brought first by Jesus has been put aside. It has been placed on the side bench, even for people who know of it. God is Love.

But back to the wonderful name of Jesus. The Name which at the sound of it, every knee bows and every tongue confesses that He is Lord. This Name has been given, as a guarantee of inheritance. That's the significance of ending our prayer with, "In the name of Jesus". Make no mistake, it is not mere ritual or superstition. When a believer says it with faith, knowing that he is utilizing His Father's signet ring, His Fathers credit card, there is nothing which this guarantee cannot buy.

Father, let there be revival about Your love. Let us see and receive Your immeasurable Love for Jesus, and thus for us.
