Are you believing for healing for a loved one? Or perhaps your own healing is in the waiting. What do you do when your healing tarries? Here are 10 Bible verses for healing and strength, that will tide you through until the manifestation of your healing! Believing with all around the world for the will of God to be made manifest in our lives!

1) Psalms 103:3 - The Lord who heals you

"Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases..." Psalms 103:3

This verse is a beautiful reminder of the characteristic of our Lord and the blessings that come with our relationship with Him. Psalms 103 is a song of praise that David wrote which begins with praise and also an exhortation to "forget not all His benefits". And beloved, take comfort in the fact that the third benefit is clearly written: the Lord heals all your diseases.

2) 3 John 1:2 - Pray for your health

"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers." 3 John 1:2

In his third letter to the church, the disciple whom Jesus loved wrote this in the opening of his prayer: that the readers of his letter may "be in health". In Luke 7:10, the same Greek word for "health" is used to describe the servant who was sick (physically) and was made "healthy" miraculously by the word of Christ! Let's pray this same prayer that the Apostle John prayed for his church: even as your soul prospers, may you be in health, in Jesus' name!

3) James 5:14-15 - Pray for the sick

"Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven." James 5:14-15

Another beautiful reminder from James for how the believer can pray: we are to pray for the sick, and the prayer of faith will save! In V16, he writes that the "prayer of a righteous man avails much", and beloved, we have been made righteous once and for all by the finished work of the cross! Let us pray for the sick today and see the Lord work in our lives!

4) Proverbs 4:20-22 - Let the Word of God bring life to you

"My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh." Proverbs 4:20-22

The Word of God is life and health! I pray that as we dive into the treasures of God in His word, you will experience the resurrection life, both in your spirit and in your flesh!

5) Proverbs 4:23 - Guard your heart, guard your life

"Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life." Proverbs 4:23

The continuation after Proverbs 4:22 gives us a very important advice about how to guard our lives: the writer says to "keep your heart". The word "Keep" is to guard, watch over or preserve. This verse is revealing a secret: our heart, the innermost part of our beings, it is from this place that the issues of life comes forth. The word "Life" encapsulated the idea of being a living being, it is used to describe the greenery of vegetation, the beasts of the fields and the essence of any living creature. Guard your heart, for that is where your life comes from!

Bible verse about healing
Our heart, the innermost part of our beings, it is from this place that the issues of life comes forth.

6) Proverbs 17:22 - A merry heart does good like medicine

"A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones." Proverbs 17:22

From the idea of a heart that is taken care of, we once again hear sound advice from the writer of Proverbs, inspired by God. A joyful/merry heart does the same good as a medicine does; what does medicine do? Fix our bodies! Amazing that this was written more than 2000 years ago, and yet only in recent years, psychology has begun to unravel the roots of many diseases to be from depression or a long-drawn downcast demeanor.

Beloved, take this sound advice to heart, and let not sorrow enter your innermost chambers. You can do that by filling yourself with the Joy of the Lord that is independent of circumstances, fully anchored by the promises of God!

7) Proverbs 3:7-8 - Health to your flesh and strength to your bones!

"Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones." Proverbs 3:7-8

Another amazing secret revealed in Proverbs: Fear the Lord and depart from evil. There is wisdom in departing from evil, for even to our naked eyes, we feel a sort of distaste and discomfort from witnessing evil. There is something we don't really understand about the concept of evil, but suffice to say, the Word says that the avoidance of it will lead to health!

And the Fear of Lord: Jesus Himself translated "fear the Lord" into "worship the Lord" in Matthew 4:10. Beloved, the fear of the Lord does refer to terror for the beloved, it entails awe, reverence and love. Bask in His presence today and you shall fear the Lord!

8) Isaiah 53:4-5 - Jesus has borne your sicknesses and pains

"Surely our sicknesses he hath borne, And our pains -- he hath carried them, And we -- we have esteemed him plagued, Smitten of God, and afflicted. And he is pierced for our transgressions, Bruised for our iniquities, The chastisement of our peace [is] on him, And by his bruise there is healing to us." Isaiah 53:4-5

Young's Literal Translation was purposefully used in this quotation because I felt that the translation makes the Hebrew words used here more apparent. Isaiah 53 is known to be a Messianic prophecy of our Lord Jesus Christ and includes descriptions of His work on the cross. Yes, it is sure, on the cross, Jesus bore our sicknesses and pains, and by His stripe, we are healed!

9) Matthew 9:35 - Jesus the very image of the invisible God

"Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people." Matthew 9:35

Jesus once said in John 14:9. "He who has seen Me has seen the Father.". Indeed, Jesus came to reveal the person of God our Father, and it is amazing to see Jesus' ministry on earth. He went about healing and and giving hope, redeeming and resurrecting. That same Jesus is now back at His Father's Right Hand, as your representative. He is never-changing, and so, even now, He is ready to heal every sickness and disease! Take heart, Believer!

10) Matthew 8:3 - Jesus doesn't just heals you, He touches you

"Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed." Matthew 8:3

In this portion of the gospel, Jesus had just finished the famous Sermon on the mount and He was met with a leper who asked for healing. The question of the leper is one that rings familiar in my heart, something that I'm sure everyone of us have once prayed before. Trembling, in tears, and on the brink of giving up, maybe you once have asked, "Lord, if You are willing." Beloved, Jesus' response is a beautiful reveal of God's heart for you. He did not just heal the leper, He touched him. It was against the Law to touch lepers, and furthermore, Jesus had just finished a sermon on the perfect, impeccable and unbendable Law of God; He had just presented the Law in its perfect glory, with no human caveats nor any cut-corners. But just a few moments after, He "breaks" the law and touches the Leper. The law says that whoever touches the unclean becomes unclean, but for our Lord Jesus, He touched the leper, and the leper became clean.

Truly, He came to fulfill the law, but why has the author come down to be subject to His own writings, what purpose is there to say that one is subjected to one's own nature? It was because He was fulfilling it not to prove anything, but He was fulfilling it as our representative! And the work of Jesus has made healing possible for all of us!

Praying that these 10 bible verses for healing will revive your faith and hope in the Lord, that He is your healing!
